Fabian Silva – My Story

Fabian Silva 150 Fabian Silva’s portrait of his grandfathers shows a pair of boxing gloves and images of two faces. Elaborate lettering says “My Contenders, My Champs, My Granpas.” On the back Fabian, a Senior at Dos Pueblos High School in Kevin Gleason’s Free Hand Drawing class, wrote, “for the hard work and struggle my Grandpas had to go through to keep our family maintained, and for making our lives what they are today.” Fabian remembers watching boxing on tv with both of his grandfathers, one his father’s father Jesus who lives in Guadalajara, and his grandfather Vincente de Robles, his mother’s dad who lives in Goleta.  Fabian joined a boxing club in elementary school and  he remembers how his grandfather enjoyed watching him.  Now drawing is what interests Fabian, and he hopes to study art in college.
