In February of this year, Carpinteria High School’s Photography Class exhibited their images. The high school’s Culinary Class served refreshments at the event. Click on the heading “Grants” to view images of the event. It was an outstanding event.
The Student Art Fund will begin to accept entries for its annual online art exhibits/competitions. Four competitions/online exhibits will be held for 2012. They are a photography/digital arts show, a middle school art show, a high school jewelry show and a high school ceramics show. The competition is open to high school and middle school
Five pieces of jewelry have been selected and the student artists of those pieces will receive ribbons of outstanding merit. The names of the students and images of the work is now displayed on the Student Art Fund website in the section for the 2011 Tri-Cities Jewelry Online Competition. Thank you to all who entered

Twelve student artists were chosen to receive Awards of Merit for their artwork in the Grandparent Portrait Show for the year 2011. A reception with be held March 3rd at the Faulkner Gallery of the Santa Barbara Public Library as part of the “First Thursdays” art events. The reception will begin at 5 p.m. and
CASA MAGAZINE, February 25, 2011 issue features an article on the Student Art Fund’s “Grandparent Portrait Show” on page 24 of that issue. The artwork, artist, and the story behind the artwork are pictured and discussed in the CASA article. Student artists, Chaoyi Macpherson, Shannon Brown and Natalie Wyss are the featured artists.

The Grandparent Portrait Show, March 3-24, Faulkner Gallery.
Opening Reception March 3 First Thursday, 5:00 to 8:00. Over 150 works by area high school and junior high school students featuring portraits of their grandparents or significant elder, in all media. Sponsored by the Student Art Fund of the Santa Barbara Art Association.

Five high school student artists have been selected from the entries to the Tri_Cities High School Online Ceramics Art Show to receive ribbons of Artistic Merit. Go to the “Exhibitions” section of the website to see who has been honored.
The Online Jewelry and Online Ceramics Shows for High School Art Students will have their entries judged next week. All entries must have a signed parent release form on record. Entries without a signed parent release will unfortunately be withdrawn.
